Programs of Study

The ELI programs of instruction include the following:

ELI Intensive Program:
* Full-time study of 20 hours per week for one term (according to the university's calendar)

* Development of academic and general English skills
* Classes in speaking, listening, reading, writing, and grammar. Click here for a sample schedule of classes.
* Three proficiency levels: low intermediate, high intermediate, and advanced (no classes for beginners)
* Part-time study available (for students not on an F-1 visa issued via an I-20 from the ELI
)

Special courses:
* Multi-skill Evening Course (available for part-time students)
* English Pronunciation for Clear Communication (6-Week Mini-Class)
* Advanced Vocabulary and Discussion (6-Week Mini-Class)
* TOEFL Preparation (12-Week Class)

Special programs:
* Professional and Academic English Program
(Summer)
* English as a Foreign Language Program for International Teachers
(Summer)

* Summer and Language Culture Program (Summer)


In addition, the ELI offers the following:

* Use of the Language Media Center with audio-visual and computer technology
* Computer literacy instruction (for example, word processing and web skills)

Part-time and evening study are available for students who are not on a visa issued by the ELI. Terms usually begin early January, early May and late August.

The ELI contracts with international organizations, businesses, governments, and agencies to provide programs designed for special groups of students.
