English Pronunciation for Clear Communication (EPCC)

This course is designed for non-native speakers of English who want to improve their pronunciation who are currently studying English, who are working on undergraduate or graduate degrees at the University of Pittsburgh or for individuals living or working in the Pittsburgh area who want to improve their pronunciation.

In this course, students will learn about American English pronunciation, identify their problem areas, and receive feedback in order to improve their pronunciation. Topics may inlcude the basics of pronunciation, speech rhythm, vowels and consonants, the speech pathway, intonation patterns and thought groups.

Level:
Students must be high intermediate to advanced non-native speakers of English (equivalent to ELI level 4 or level 5) in order to register for the class. Class size will be limited to 20 and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Dates (Spring 2013, university term 2134):
Module 1: CANCELED FOR SPRING TERM
Module 2: CANCELED FOR SPRING TERM
(Modules may be taken independently of each other.)

Class days/times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:00 -12:50 pm

Cost:
$175 for each module (not including any books or materials)
