Advanced
Vocabulary and Discussion Course
For
non-native speakers of English
who want to improve vocabulary knowledge and discussion skills
- GOALS:
- develop advanced
vocabulary and receive feedback on meanings, word use, and word
pronunciation
- practice and
receive feedback on discussion skills
- COURSE
CONTENT:
The curriculum of this course is based on the textbook Words for
Students of English, Volume 8 (University of Michigan Press). Each
of the class meetings will focus on a unit topic in the textbook, selected
according to the interests of the class members from the following:
Arts, Business, Communication, Computers, Earth Science, Economics,
Education, Health, Language, Law, Life Science, Politics, Psychology,
Research, Science, Society. All the words in these units are non-technical
and generally useful. Most class meetings will combine vocabulary work
and topic-related discussion.
