Getting from the airport to the university:

The University of Pittsburgh is located in the Oakland area of Pittsburgh. Students can travel to Oakland in a number of ways:

1. Request airport pickup from the Pittsburgh Council for International Visitors (PCIV). PCIV volunteers can meet students arriving at the Pittsburgh International Airport between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.. The fee for this is $20. Use the PCIV form to apply for an airport meeting. If you have requested a 3-day arrival homestay ($75 with no additional charge for the airport pick-up), the volunteer will drive you directly to your homestay. If you have not requested a homestay, the volunteer can drive you to a hotel or another address.

Students who arrive between 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. should use one of the following forms of transportation to get to downtown Pittsburgh or Oakland:

2. Take a city bus (company name: Port Authority). Take bus number 28X, which stops near all the major hotels in Oakland. The cost is $2.00. The bus stop is in the airport area (baggage level) called 'Ground Transportation.' There is a schedule posted near the bus stop.

3. Take an Airport limousine: The cost is $17 to the Holiday Inn in Oakland (one block from the University of Pittsburgh). Go to the counter for 'Airlines Transportation Co.' (baggage level of the airport) to buy a ticket and find out the next departure time.

4. Take a taxi: The cost is approximately $40 to get to the University of Pittsburgh

Places to stay upon arrival:

Students who need a place to stay upon arrival and while they look for an apartment have several options:
