ELI Updates in response to COVID-19

Due to COVID-19 health and safety precautions, the ELI offices will be closed and operating remotely until further notice. The ELI is working remotely 8:30 am - 4:45 pm Monday - Friday. 

For updates related to Allegheny County, the county where Pittsburgh is located, please visit the Allegheny County Health Department's website. If you have questions or concerns, you can contact the Allegheny County Health Department at 888-856-2774. Language services are available in Arabic, Chinese, Nepalese, Russian, Spanish, and Swahili. 

Intensive English Program

ELI Student Advisor Virtual Office Hours: Updated September 2, 2020

ELI Student Advisor, Stacy Ranson, can help enrolled ELI students with questions about registration and classes, academic issues, letters of recommendation, and personal issues, as well. To schedule an appointment with Stayc, email her at sar72@pitt.edu any time. She is also available by appointment for Zoom video chats. Please email Stacy if you would like to speak by Zoom during her office hour. If you cannot meet during office hours, other arrangements can be made.

Virtual Main Office Hours: Updated September 15, 2020

ELI students can e-mail ELIpitt@pitt.edu to schedule a Zoom meeting with Jean Linder, the Administrative Assistant, during her Virtual Office Hours to discuss questions about submitting important documents, transcripts, general ELI questions, and more. Please submit meeting requests no later than 2:00 p.m. the day before. Friday sessions will be “drop-in,” meaning that you do not need to make a reservation.

IEP Applications and I-20s: Updated May 13, 2020

Applications are being accepted for the Intensive English Program (IEP) for Fall 2020 and beyond. IEP applicants are encouraged to contact elipitt@pitt.edu for online application questions. IEP applicants are encouraged not to mail or leave cash or checks at the ELI Main Office. Applicants will be contacted for tuition deposit payment once the ELI returns to office. 

Due to COVID 19, the ELI will not be able to mail ELI acceptance letters or I-20 documents to applicants for F-1 student visa applications until further notice. Acceptance letters and I-20 documents will be emailed to applicants needing an F-1 visa. The ELI is following health or governmental restrictions.  

ELI acceptance letters for applicants with other visa types (non-F-1) will be emailed to applicants within one week of receipt of completed applications.
