Intensive English Program (IEP)

  • January 11 to April 14, 2022
  • Application deadline is January 7, 2022 (for students who do not need an F-1 visa or for students interested in part-time study).

Important Events and Holidays:

  • January 11, 12, 13: ELI placement test and orientation sessions (remote on Zoom)
  • January 14: First day of ELI classes 
  • January 14 - 26:  Classes at the University of Pittsburgh held remotely on Zoom* 
  • January 17: Martin Luther King Jr. Day (University Closed)
  • January 24: Last day to withdraw from an ELI class and get a refund
  • January 27:  Classes at the University of Pittsburgh return to in-person meetings*
  • March 6 - 13: Spring Break (No classe)
  • March 25: No IEP Classes (ELI closed)
  • April 8, 11, 12:  ELI Final Exams
  • April 14: Last day of classes and ELI Closing Ceremony

Dates for Future Terms in the Intensive English Program

Note:  Classes for Spring 2022 at the University of Pittsburgh will begin remotely on Zoom for the first few weeks of the term and expected to take place fully in person beginning January 27.  The University is committed to the safety of everyone on campus and to building a healthy and resilient community and will continue to monitor the spread of the new COVID variant and its severity in our community. *Finals in the ELI are held in every skill area during the last week and a half of the term. There are no excused absences for the final exams. A missed final exam will result in a zero (0) for that exam.
