Midterm Entry: Intensive English Program

If you were unable to begin your English studies at the beginning of the term, please join our intensive English program classes already in progress. Availability of Classes

Full- and part-time study are both options, but please note that acceptance at midterm depends on class availability. All English Language Institute (ELI) applicants must take the ELI placement exam. Students are placed into levels in existing classes based on the results of the placement test. At midterm, classes are sometimes full, so the ELI cannot guarantee that all levels or classes will be available to applicants testing at midterm. If applicants test into a level that is full, the ELI will not be able to accommodate them.

Visa Requirements

  • No student visa is required.
  • Midterm entry is not available for F-1 student visas.

Midterm Calendar

  • Midterm session is Thursday, February 15, through Thursday, April 11, 2024.

Application 

  • Deadline:  The deadline for completed applications is Friday, February 9, by 12:00 pm EST.

  • Application Fee:  If midterm applicants place into an available level, they will be instructed how to pay the $150 application fee, tuition, and required University fees.  Please note that midterm entry applicants do not have to pay the $30 entrance exam fee.

ELI Midterm Placement Test Date Spring Term 2024:

  • The ELI Midterm Placement Test will be held on Wednesday, February 14, from 10:00 am -12:00 pm. Midterm applicants will be contacted for scheduling.

All fees, tuition, and other stated costs of the English Language Institute are subject to change without prior notice. 

Please note that textbooks are required and are not included with tuition fees.

  • 2 classes: $1345
  • 3 classes: $1943
  • 4 classes: $2541
  • 5 classes: $3138

Required University Fees*  

In addition to ELI tuition, all ELI students must pay required University fees*. All fees, tuition, and other stated costs are subject to change without prior notice. 

  • University Student Activity Fee $30
  • Computing and Network Services Fee: $100
  • Security, Safety, and Transportation Fee $130
  • Wellness Fee** $140

*Increases in required University fees are typically announced in July for the upcoming academic year.   

** The Wellness Fee provides access to Student Health Services, which covers minor health problems and pharmacy services. This fee is not hospitalization/health insurance. ELI students must show proof of hospitalization/health insurance and registration.
