Mother’s Day in the US was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908 in honor of motherhood in all forms, and it became a National Holiday in 1914. Traditional ways to celebrate are gifts (flowers, perfume, and jewelry are popular) and cards, as well as a fancy brunch or dinner. Mother’s Day is always celebrated in the US on the second Sunday in May.
